SmartLoadCell is the brand of Sure Torque. Sure Torque develops and produces closure torque testers with strain gauge load cell technic for the packaging industry since 1984. We started the development of the SmartLoadCell technology for our handheld torque testers and for the Smart Bottles, but in the meanwhile we have realised that this technology can bring benefits to many other areas of the load cell technology. So we decided to create a separate brand for the SmartLoadCell products.

Since the very beginning Sure Torque has been a trend setter in it’s industy: almost all the sophisticated test features in closure torque testing were first lauched by Sure Torque.

Sure Torque was founded by Mr. Géza E. Bánkuty in 1984. Mr. Bánkuty was born in Hungary in 1926. He was a several-time Hungarian motorcycle champion until 1956. Due to his active participation in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, he had to emigrate after the revolution was suppressed, and he could not return to his home country until 1988.

After immigrating to the United States, he completed his studies and became a packaging professional. In addition to his business success, he remained very active in the civic life of the Hungarian community.

His first company was New England Machinery, a leader in the development and production of unscrambling machines. He founded Sure Torque, Inc. in 1984 for the development and production of fully automatic, high-tech closure torque testers.

Sure Torque Europe was founded in 2004 in Hungary by Mr. Bánkuty and his partner, Zsolt Magyary-Kossa, who is now the general manager of the company. Sure Torque Europe’s main goal is to carry on Mr. Bánkuty’s spirit of innovation. The success of our expanded product range is proof of this.

Over the years, Mr. Bánkuty withdrew from all his companies, lastly from Sure Torque Europe in 2013.

The idea of the SmartLoadCell also came from the closure torque testing, but we immediately realised that this technology may bring benefits in a much wider application area. For this reason we decided to maintain the SmartLoadCell products as an independent brand besides Sure Torque. 

Today, hundreds of Sure Torque torque testers are in operation worldwide across various industries. Many major cap manufacturers, beverage companies, and pharmaceutical companies use Sure Torque automatic torque testers, including, among others:
